President
Mary Rose is a retired finance academic and medical practitioner whose interests include financial markets, investment and superannuation. She has served for many years on various boards and committees of not-for-profit and Church organizations. She has been President of FFI for the last five years having served previously as Treasurer.
Virginia Slaughter BA (SLC Bronxville NY), PhD (UCal Berkeley), Grad Cert Ed (UQ)
Vice-President
Virginia Slaughter is Professor of Developmental Psychology at UQ. Her research focuses on how babies and young children see other people and learn to relate to others through empathy, imitation, gesture and language. She has been a member of the FFI management committee since 2001.
Ellie (Larelle) Chapple LLB (Hons) QUT, LLM (UQ), SJD (QUT)
Secretary
Ellie is Professor at the QUT Business School at Queensland University of Technology. Her research and teaching interests include corporate law, corporate governance, fraud and business forensics.
Fiona H Rohde BCom, BSc, MInfSystems, PhD
Treasurer
Fiona Rohde is Associate Professor of Information Systems within the Business School at the University of Queensland. Her research focuses on data and information quality. She has been a member of the FFI management committee since 2008.
Colleen Forrester BA
Colleen is currently the President of Australian Federation of University Women – Queensland. Her consultancy practice provides strategic advice to government and industry in many areas including power generation and health. Her interests and passions include raising funds for homeless women and the education of women.
Gwendolyn Lawrie BSc(Hons), PhD, PGDip Ed, MRACI (CChem)
Gwen is Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at UQ and currently holds a teaching-focused appointment. Her research encompasses two fields: the development of higher order thinking and metacognition in students through active learning experiences (SOTL) and the design of polysaccharide matrices for biomaterial and drug delivery applications (Chemistry). Gwen has been a member of the FFI management committee since 2008.
Nancye Peel, PhD MPH BPhty (Hons)
Nancye is a Research Fellow in the Centre for Research in Geriatric Medicine, School of Medicine, The University of Queensland. Her research areas of interest include health assessment and delivery of quality care in ageing populations. She is a former recipient of an FFI Commemorative Scholarship to complete post graduate studies for her Master of Public Health.
Agnes M Whiten OAM BA (UQ), BE (UPM), MSc (UPM)
Member of UQ Senate (1993-2001), Past President of AFUWQ and FFI.
After years in minerals research Agnes currently holds appointments to various Federal and State Ministerial Councils in the areas of women’s issues, electricity, multicultural affairs and health, and currently chairs the Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland.
Carole Crowther BA DipEd GradCertTESOL
Carole is President of Graduate Women Qld - Gold Coast. She has a professional background in business and Secondary Education where she implemented a number of programmes incorporating innovative approaches to teaching and community issues. She was the foundation Treasurer of the fledgling AFUWQ (now GWQ) - Gold Coast Branch formed in 1978 and has served twice as Branch President. She is a fervent believer in the value of lifelong education and the liberating power of education for women.
